In Starline the universe as humans know it is pretty vast still though not for humanities lack of trying to colonize all of it. Humans are everywhere. Well everywhere within a certain radius but you get what I'm meaning here I hope.

Why are we so spread out? Well something bad happened back here on Terra a Long Long Time Ago (tm). And much like in many post Earth Apocalypse games and game systems... man gets away before he can't live here anymore and sets out for the stars in collosal ships with Complicated AI's that pilot these craft away from the uninhabitable planet. On the way some of these ship AI came up with things that humans would later find very very useful.

However some of the AI's were so complicated the trips had to be cut short. The Ship AI had gone insane from the loneliness of being the only thing awake as everyone on board was in cryostasis. Many of these great ships had to be put down and the people were forced to find housing a bit sooner then they might have planned. Thus was humanity spread all over -some even had destinations that they couldn't now reach of where they were planning to plop down and take root. Ah well. Mice and Humans and all that.

To facilitate construction Labors and soon Boomers joined the workforce as humans improved on them (Labors helped build the great ships) or created them for the first time (Boomers). Artifiical life had yet to manifest itself outside of the Great AI's which by now were all long gone... and even they were just complex AI's. Not really there ya know.

As for Warbots and Marionettes...

The First is the Story of a Marionette who would one day "look over" a Sailor Moon fan's shoulder and decide to call herself Yume Tomoe. The words mean Dream and Earth respectively in Japanese.
